This figurine is an excellent representation of traditional Korean life. As a resident of Korea from ‘73-‘75, and living in an impoverished area, many of these figures were seen guite often. The two end pieces were visible in many of the village and roadways (though normally not as elaborate). They were displayed to ward off evil spirits. The man on the left is attired in clothes traditional for someone who has retired from his livelihood. The third person on the left is seen carrying an A frame. These men and often women would toil in the villages or countryside carrying huge loads. The man in the middle is missing his left foot and the lady on his left is missing part of the stick holding her hair. Other than that overall condition is good. Measures 12”-4 7/8”-1.5”. Hand carved and hand painted.
